How To Install Software on a Windows PC

Most software needs to be installed in order to run. It will come as a file ending with .msi or have a name like Setup.exe or Install.exe, and you will not be able to install this software on your computer.

The IT team can evaluate and make software available through the "Software Center" self-service application. Please contact the helpdesk (support@sd20.bc.ca) if there is software you would like the IT team to evaluate for availability.

To install available software, first click on the Start menu:

Click on the "All Programs" item near the bottom of the Start menu:

At the top of the All Programs menu, choose "_SoftwareCenter": (the underscore is there so that it always appears at the top)

Once the Software Center opens, place a check mark next to the software title you with to install, then click the Install button in the lower right corner.
